An investigation is being held after a Sallis man was found fatally shot.
The Attala County Sheriff’s Office and other first responders were called to the scene at 11:03 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 near the intersection of Mississippi highways 12 and 429, where 23-year-old Ricky Webster of Sallis was found.
Webster was fatally wounded and was found dead upon arrival, said Attala County Coroner Sam Bell.
Bell said Webster’s body has been sent to the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory for an autopsy.
Webster’s death is being investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
A spokesperson for the bureau said MBI is “investigating an alleged shooting in Attala County. … This is an open investigation; no further comment will be made.”
