Kosciusko boys’ and girl’s basketball teams were zero for three last week. Three games were scheduled, but none were played. An attempt will be made to reschedule the games.
The Whippets and Lady Whippets were scheduled for a home-and-home with Amanda Elzy. The games were canceled because an Amanda Elzy player was killed in an automobile accident.
“We can understand that. Life is bigger than games,” said girls’ Coach Cory Guyton.
County rivalry games with McAdams were not played because of a Covid case involving the McAdams team.
The Lady Whippets were on a roll with three straight victories, the last two by lopsided scores of 73-14 against Wingfield and 68-15 against West Point.
“You always want to keep playing when things are going well. But sometimes unfortunate things happen,” Guyton said.
Boys coach Eleazarus Gereenleaf said the cancellations gave his team time to focus on improvement.
“It's unfortunate that we didn't get to play, but it gave us a chance to work on some things,” he said. “I told my guys Friday that they should be eager to play next week.”
The Whippets and Lady Whippets played at J.Z. George Tuesday and will entertain J.Z. George Saturday.
