The Winona Christian Stars saw their basketball season come to and end last week in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament.
The Stars fell in the first round as Christian Collegiate pulled away in the second half and took a 63-40 win to end Winona Christian’s season.
Second-year coach Nick Mumme said he saw the Stars make a lot of improvement this season.
“I’m extremely proud of this group,” coach Nick Mumme said. “We grew in a lot of areas as a team that I was hoping too. This is a really unselfish group that loves playing with one another. The biggest thing that this group did was mature mentally as individuals and as a team throughout the year.”
Mumme said he hopes the Stars will build off what they accomplished this season and move forward with that in the offseason.
“We took a lot of steps forward in year two, but we still have so much room to grow as individual players and and as a team and that excites me,” Mumme said. “We need to be more motivated than ever this offseason so we can build off of the successes we’ve had this past year. This is going to be a fun offseason because this is a group that understands the work you have to put in to be successful and I know they won’t be satisfied with this year.”
