First train in Kosciusko

Between the days of the Indian trails and the thoroughfares as we know them today, there was the old wire road. It was named because this road followed the route of the first telegraph line constructed between Kosciusko and Louisville. There were also the Big Roads.

The man, hospital known as Montfort Jones

Montfort Jones Jr. was the son of an early Attala County doctor, Montfort Jones Sr. and Sallie Thomas Feild Jones. In about 1902, Montfort Jr. left Attala County for Oklahoma. He joined his brother Bernard in an oil venture, which proved to be a financial success.
