Eleazarus Greenleaf is leaving Kosciusko after nine years as boys basketball coach to accept the same position at Winona.
“Coach Hems called and we discussed it,” he said of Winona athletic director Veronica Helms. “It seemed like a good fit. She wants me to come in and get the program back to where she wants it to be. She's going to give me the tools and resources I need to do that.”
He added that renovations of the Winona gym will be a plus.
Greenleaf compiled a 162-89 record at Kosciusko that included a region championship, being named region coach of the year three times and coaching in the Mississippi all-star game.
“My time at Kosciusko was great,” he said. “I cherish the years I had here. I accomplished a lot.”
Greenleaf also coaches Kosciusko's girls track team and he said he might help out with that sport at Winona.
He will be succeeded as Kosciusko basketball coach by Marquise Bailey, the coach at Peeples Middle School in Jackson for five years.
