A week after finishing second in the Class 3A North State Tournament, the Winona Christian Lady Stars went two and out at the state tournament.
Winona Christian lost both games on Saturday, falling 7-3 to Centreville and 7-2 to Lee Academy.
Winona Christian finishes the season with a 20-13-1 record.
Lee Academy 7, Winona Christian 2
The Lady Colts jumped ahead early and took advantage of five Winona Christian errors to take a five-run win to end the Lady Stars season on Saturday.
Lee scored three runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings and one in the third. Winona scored one in the fourth and sixth innings.
Lee outhit Winona 5-3 in the contest. Miranda McDaniel doubled and drove in a run while Lennie Wood and Kaylah Varnes each singled. Katy Ware scored both runs and had four stolen bases for Winona.
Sara Rawles pitched all seven innings and gave up seven runs, only one earned, on five hits and one walk while striking out 13.
Centreville 7, Winona Christian 3
The Lady Tigers used a four-run fifth inning and took a four-run win over the Lady Stars in the opening game of the state tournament.
Centreville scored two runs in the third, four in the fifth and one in the seventh. Winona Christian scored one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Winona had five hits in the contest, led by Hilary Beckwith who was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Lennie Wood, Allie Leach and Terri Cain also had singles. Leach also had two stolen bases.
