There were some pluses and minuses in McAdams' jamboree last week, 6-0 losses to Leake County and Velma Jackson. On offense, the Bulldogs had two drives against each opponent.
“We need to work on conditioning a whole lot more and moving the ball on offense,” said coach Kenneth Nelson.
The offense was short-handed, missing three line starters who had not completed the MHSAA's 14-day heat acclimation requirement. They will be available when the Bulldogs open the season Friday with a home game against Sebastopol.
The positive on offense was Trinico Brown.
“He had a couple of good runs,” Nelson said.
Defensively, Nelson said tackle Malique Greer, middle linebacker Chris Harmon and outside linebacker Jamarion Thompson played well.
Sevastopol is a strong opening game opponent, coming off a 10-3 season. The Bobcats defeated Ethel 41-7 in the opening round of the 1A playoffs before losing to Simmons 56-26 in the second round.
“They're a good, disciplined team, returning a lot of guys from last year.” Nelson said.
