Winona Christian had three games on the basketball schedule last week but didn’t get to play but one of them.
Winona Christian did get to play on Monday night last week as they split a pair of games with Manchester.
The Stars took a 42-29 win while the Lady Stars dropped a 44-29 contest in non-district play.
Then, Winona Christian’s games with Carroll on Tuesday and Marshall on Friday were cancelled because of a flu outbreak.
“The flu hit us bad last week,” Winona Christian Coach Nick Mumme said. “We had 34 of our 42 players with the flu last week.”
WCS Athletics Director Junior Graham said the Stars simply didn’t have enough players to field a team against Carroll or Marshall.
With exams this week, Winona Christian only has one game scheduled this week as they are scheduled to host Carroll on Thursday before letting out for the Christmas break.
Mumme said they will make up the Carroll game on Jan. 7 when they were scheduled to play Pillow Academy. No makeup date has been set for the Marshall game.
