Both Central Holmes basketball teams finally got on the floor this past week with each team picking up just one win.
The Lady Trojans picked up a 55-38 win over Clinton Christian while dropping a 54-26 decision to Manchester and a 37-21 contest to Benton.
The Trojans picked up their first win with a 44-32 win over Benton and then dropped a 65-40 decision to Clinton Christian.
Central Holmes will return from the Thanksgiving break with a pair of contests. The Trojans will host Jackson Victors on Monday and then travel to Canton on Tuesday.
Central Holmes girls
The Lady Trojans lost two out of three contests this past week.
On Monday against Manchester, the Lady Trojans lost 54-26 to the Lady Mustangs. Olivia McBride led Central Holmes with eight points. The junior varsity girls lost 30-14 as well. Kate Riley and Ryleigh Scott each had six points apiece.
On Tuesday against Benton, the Lady Trojans struggled from the field again and fell 37-21 to the Lady Raiders. Mackenzie Ward led the Lady Trojans with six points. In the junior varsity game, Central Holmes lost 31-17 as Claire Tate led the way with six points.
On Friday, Central Holmes rounded out the week with a pair of wins. In the varsity game, the Lady Trojans took a 55-38 win over Clinton Christian. Kenzie Cochran led the Lady Trojans with 15 points while Mackenzie Ward had 10 points. In the junior varsity game, the Lady Trojans won 40-28. Ryleigh Scott led the Lady Trojans with 16 points while Kate Riley and Claire Tate each had seven points.
Central Holmes boys
The Trojans only got in two games this past week and split a pair of games.
The Trojans didn’t play the Manchester game as the Mavericks were playing in the Class 2A championship football game. The Trojans lost the junior varsity game, falling 32-18. Kade Ward led the Trojans with seven points.
On Tuesday, the Trojans grabbed a 44-32 win over Benton. John Hudson Word led the Trojans with 16 points while Lamar Buchanon had 11 points. In the junior varsity game, the Trojans won 30-21. Kade Ward and Wilkes Rutledge each had seven points apiece.
On Friday, both teams lost to Clinton Christian. The varsity squad lost 65-40 to the Warriors. Lamar Buchanon led the Trojans with 18 points. In the junior varsity game, Clinton Christian won 55-9.
