McAdams football Coach Kenneth Nelson will be one of the coaches at a new all-star game in Mississippi. The Magnolia State All Star Game is scheduled for December 30 at Ridgeland High School.
This will be the first time that Nelson has coached in an all-star game.
“It's a pretty good compliment to coach in an all-star game,” he said.
The game will feature seniors, mostly from small schools, who were not chosen for the Mississippi/Alabama All Star Game or the Bernard Blackwell North/South All Star Game. Nelson said it will give the players exposure and possibly help them receive scholarship offers.
The teams have not been selected. Nelson hopes to have a couple of his McAdams players chosen.
He will be defensive line coach for the North.
“I always think of myself as a line coach,” Nelson said.
Head coaches are Tavares Johnson of Simmons for the North and Kris Thigpen of Terry for the South.
The Mississippi/Alabama game, with 41 seniors from Mississippi, is scheduled for December 11 at the University of Mississippi's M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg. The North/South game, with 44 seniors on each team, will be December 18 at Gulfport High School.
