The honors keep coming for Kosciusko softball stars Kelly Hood and Campbell Blaine. They have been named to the all-state first team by the website SBLive.
Hood, a senior second baseman, and Blaine, a sophomore center fielder, were key members of the Lady Whippets team that won the 4A state championship, batting one-two in the lineup.
This is what the website said about them:
Hood – “Led the Lady Whippets to a 4A state championship with a .402 average over 146 plate appearances with six homers, seven doubles, four triples and 25 RBIs. She also stole 34 bases.”

Blaine – “The Lady Whippets sophomore sensations helped Kosciusko to a 4A state championship series win over North Pike, batting .405 with a ,506 on base average, 14 doubles and six triples. She scored an amazing 43 runs in 38 games.”

Kosciusko is one of three teams with more than one player on the first team. There are three from 6A champion Hernando and two from 5A champion Neshoba Central. Ten teams are represented.
The team includes six seniors, five juniors, two sophomores and one freshman.
