Zakiya Dotson led Ethel to a seventh-place finish at the 1A state track meet at Pearl High School.
Ethel totaled 37 points, trailing French Camp with 138, Tupelo Christian 95, Myrtle 62, West Lowndes 61, Hickory Flat 44 and Vardaman 41. Twenty-five teams scored points.
Dotson, a senior, won the 200 with a time of 26.30 and anchored 400- and 800-relay teams that finished a close second to West Lowndes in both races. She was joined on both teams by Jaterika Merritt, Shelby Schuster, and Dejah Merritt.
Jasmine Johnson was second in the shot put with a throw of 33’2”, almost three feet further than she did at the South State meet, and Schuster finished sixth in the 100.
McAdams
McAdams was 20th in the girls meet with six points, the result of a third-place finish by freshman Ameri Gadsen in the high jump. She cleared 4’4”, six inches better than she did in the South State meet, to finish behind two girls from Vardaman who did 4-8.
McAdams boys were represented by the 800-relay team of Nathan Donaldson, Tydarrius Williams, Tyler Campbell, and Marcus Ball that finished eighth.
