I, James (Pee Wee) Craig, formally announce my candidacy for Supervisor, District 2 Attala County in the August 8, 2023, election. I humbly ask for your support and vote. Many of you already know me as the son of Jimmy and Bonnie Sue Craig and a longtime Attala County resident. As your Supervisor, I will bring the following knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and commitment learned through my life to the Board of Supervisors:
• Resident for 38 years
• Farmer for 38 years
• Local business owner for 26 years
• Volunteer fireman
I am running to serve as your supervisor. We need and deserve a supervisor that has the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job so that things can get done efficiently and effectively to improve our district. The Board of Supervisors is the chief policy making and administrative body of the county. The Board is responsible for:
• adopting an annual budget.
• setting policies, goals, and objectives to direct the county's growth and development.
• adopting and providing for ordinances, rules, and regulations as necessary for the general welfare of the county.
• establishing annual property tax rate.
• constructing and maintaining roads.
• carrying out other responsibilities set forth by Mississippi state statues.
