To the Citizens of District 2: My name is Howard Sharkey Jr. Most of you may know me by “Goober.” My wife, Gladys, and I have been married for 35 years, and we have one daughter, Jasmine Sharkey Murray, son-in-law, Mario Murray, and two beautiful granddaughters, Taylor, and Mia Murray. I graduated from Kosciusko High School and attended Holmes Community College for two years. I also have a Pollution Control license from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. We are members of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. I would ask that you consider me on Aug. 8, 2023, as your District 2 Supervisor. I have been employed with the city of Kosciusko for 26 years, and in that time, I’ve supervised three departments and employees, managed budgets in each of those departments, maintained streets and assisted on calls at night removing fallen trees and other debris. I have been the license operator for the city of West and license operator for Attala County schools. Currently, I am overseeing a $3.2 million road paving project for the City of Kosciusko as well as a $3 million sewage project. Being an Attala County Supervisor is more than paving a road or trimming a tree, there are other issues this County faces. I cannot promise that I will pave every road, but I can promise that I will do all I can to make your roads better when I can. If you should need my help, my cellphone number is 662-582-4081, day or night. My phone is always on. I am running for this office to try and help our county move forward. There are some projects that the city and county need to work on together that will benefit this whole county. If I am elected your supervisor, I will work for you and this county to make it all it can be. If you are ready for a change and want to move your county forward, vote for me, Howard Sharkey Jr. My goal is that I am going to do my best to see everyone in District 2. If for some reason I miss you, please call me and we can talk, and I’ll answer any questions you might have.
