McAdams boys track team finished fourth out of six teams in the first meet of the season at Velma Jackson High School, finishing behind three larger schools.
The Bulldogs finished with 66½, trailing Velma Jackson, a 2A team with 173, Yazoo County (3A) with 141½ and Morton (3A) with 79. Forest (3A) had 64 points and Pelahatchie (2A) 32.
“Overall, I think the kids were happy. I was happy with them” said coach Mitchell Myer. “Being able to use their resources is to our advantage. It was very helpful to us.”
McAdams' top performer was freshman Jamarques Spivey with a third in the 200 (23.75) and a fourth in the 200 (11.30). He also anchored 400 and 800 relay teams that finished third. He was joined on the 400 relay team by Ja’Myran Cross, Marcus Ball and Zyion Christian and on the 800 by Willie Perteet, Cross and Tydarious Williams.
Other top eight performances for McAdams: Jamar Teague third in the 800, Perteet fifth in the 200, Chris Harmon fifth in the 400 and seventh in the 110 hurdles, Omari Barron-Hampton fifth in the 800, Kurt Mitchell fifth in the 300 hurdles, Christian seventh in the triple jump, Ball seventh in the 100, Williams seventh in the discus, Perteet eighth in the long jump and Kendarious Harmon eighth in the discus.
For the girls Kiyah Harmon was first in the high jump, third in the long jump and ran on the 800 relay team that finished second.
The boys and girls teams will compete at the CrossRoads Relays at Winona High School Saturday. Winona will also be the site of the 6-1A meet April 14.
