McAdams boys and girls powerlifting teams and Kosciusko boys team have district meets this week. McAdams girls were at Velma Jackson Wednesday and the boys will be at Bruce Friday. Kosciusko boys will be at the armory in Carthage Friday. Kosciusko girls meet will be February 18 at Itawamba AHS.
McAdams boys finished fourth in 1A at the state meet last year. The girls were fifth in Class I, which includes 1A and 2A teams.
District meets are the first step in MHSAA powerlifting, to be followed by region meets, North State and South State meets and state championship meets March 31 for girls and April 1 for boys at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
The top three lifters in each weight class advance to the next meet.
