The Kosciusko boys powerlifting team finished second at its district meet and qualified nine of the 12 lifters for the regional meet February 17 at Leake Central.
Kosciusko finished with 50 points to 58 for Leake Central, the host team. Clarksdale also had 50 points, but Kosciusko took second by a tiebreaker.
The top three in each weight class move on to the regional meet.
Kosciusko had three lifters who won their weight class, Nathan Hill at 114, River Keith at 148 and Javen Mallett at 220.
Second place went to Eli Kemp at 181, Michael Sims at 198, Latavion Stephens at 220 and J.C. Miller at 275. Finishing third were J.J. Ashford at 148 and Preston Moore at 242.
The three who failed to qualify are first year lifters.
Kosciusko's girls team will compete in a district meet February 18 at Itawamba AHS.
