GLENDORA — The Emmett Till Historic Intrepid Center (ETHIC) here has added a new 14-member board of directors, experts with local and national connections, after recently hiring Dr. Sharon Hill as executive director.
Glendora Mayor Johnny B. Thomas, who founded the ETHIC in 2005 and has since led several successful grant efforts to grow and maintain the site, has been named honorary board member.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Sally Kay (Roberson) Knott, age 68, passed away Saturday, January 3, at her home.
Formerly of Charleston, her family the Roberson Hardware store.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Knott of Jacksonville, N.C.; her daughters, Mary Helmkamp of Cary, N.C. and Becca Abeyounis of Leland, N.C.; her son, Mikey Knott of Seattle, Wash.; four sisters, a brother and two grandchildren.

CASCILLA — Tom Henry Kendall, age 86, of Cascilla, peacefully passed away Friday, January 9, surrounded by family who loved him deeply.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, at North Shady Grove Church of God with Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the North Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will received friends from 5–7 p.m. Sunday evening and one hour prior to the service Monday, all at the church.
