The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until midnight Friday night.
The advisory is for the following counties: ASHLEY-CHICOT-MOREHOUSE-WEST CARROLL-RICHLAND-BOLIVAR-SUNFLOWER-LEFLORE-GRENADA-CARROLL-MONTGOMERY-WEBSTER-CLAY-LOWNDES-CHOCTAW-OKTIBBEHA-WASHINGTON-HUMPHREYS-HOLMES-ATTALA-WINSTON.
The advisory calls fro a wintery mix of sleet, freezing rain, and light snow. Light rain will begin to change to primarily snow and perhaps some sleet in the morning. There may be a lull in the percipitation before more snow is possible later tonight prior to ending. Snow is possible with a half of an inch projected over the area.
Light wintery accumulations will create slick spots on roadways mainly on bridges and overpasses. Be prepared for slippery roads and use caution while driving.
Tonight a hard freeze is possible with temperatures expected to drop well below freezing.
