Amid all the chaos the Trump administration currently has our nation in, you may have missed this breaking news: Another country will soon be added to those that have universal healthcare for all of it's citizens. That country is Mexico. Yes, you read that right, MEXICO. Full implementation will begin in January while Canada already has universal healthcare. So, as of January, here we will sit in AMERICA (the only developed country in the world without universal healthcare for ALL of it's citizens), between two countries that do have universal coverage. To make matters worse, ours is the most expensive as a percentage of the GDP and it covers far less citizens. This is because ours is one based on profit, not making/keeping people well. It results in people going into medical bankruptcy, not being able to afford medications and timely medical exams, and even denial of life saving treatment.
So, let me say it again, the United States is the only developed country in the world without health coverage for all of its citizens. It is a disgrace to our nation and MUST be made a priority for congress!
By doing so, they will save the country a tremendous sum and countless lives. It's a no-brainer. But nooo, here we sit like IGNORANT FOOLS, being taken advantage of by pharmaceutical companies, private insurance, and worst of all, our elected officials in congress. Because they are all profit from this system and we all know it.
The Republican Party is currently in control of congress and the White House and are even trying to strip what coverage some Americans do have by making it harder to stay on Medicaid, refusing to expand Medicaid, and making ACA premiums more expensive. And, Mississippi governor, TATE REEVES, being a foot soldier for Donald Trump, has turned down now 14 BILLION FEDERAL DOLLARS to expand Medicaid. Had he been working for the private sector, he would have long since been fired. But nope, the good ole boys and girls of Mississippi elected him for 2 terms. Even though we are the poorest and sickest state in the nation.
Republican Senator Cindy Hyde Smith, another foot soldier of Donald Trump, is up for re-election in November and will NEVER vote for universal healthcare. It is my sincere prayer and hope that in the meantime, the good ole boys and girls of Mississippi still in support of Hyde-Smith will take a good long look in the mirror at the IGNORANT FOOL staring back at them.
And I challenge the Democratic Party in the coming months, to develop a game plan explaining how this transition could take place and get that before all of the country before the election.
