The National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma has issued a tornado watch for Attala and other surrounding counties until 6 p.m.
Other Mississippi counties included in the watch are: Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Clay, Grenada, Holmes, Itawamba, Kemper, Leake, Lee, Lowndes, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Neshoba, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Pontotoc, Tishomingo, Webster, Winston, Yalobusha and Yazoo.
UPDATE: A strong thunderstorm will affect southweastern Holmes and southeastern Attala Counties until 1:15 p.m.
At 1244 PM CST, Meteorologists were tracking a strong thunderstorm over Ebenezer, or 14 miles southwest of Durant, moving east at 45 mph. Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.
