Global Positioning System — GPS ... Who doesn't have one?
You get ready to go someplace, not knowing the area, all you do is plug in the address and ‘voila,’ your destination’s plotted. A nice calm voice comes over the speakers, mine is a female, and the voice tells you where to turn, in exactly how many minutes, at what intersection, so easy! I was always the navigator for our trips, and I might have some trouble reading maps. Now I have this unseen friend that talks to me.
All you need is a telephone — that little bugger can trace you to Timbuckto in a matter of seconds. I had a friend while we lived in Arkansas that had the idea that her spouse was cheating on her. She had a tracing device stuck to his truck, and she knew every place he visited. He figured out she was on to him and literally tore his truck to pieces, demolishing his dashboard, his sound system, removed his seats, checked EVERYTHING underneath the hood but he never found the little half-dollar sized gadget attached to the inside of his rear bumper.
Back a few years ago, actually several years ago, before the innovation of the phone, the thing then was a “beeper” that you could wear on your belt. All the person needing to contact you was a number to “beep” you on and the device would start to buzz on your belt and you could look at the screen and you would know who to contact. My husband had one for his business, and I might have used it too much to contact him and one day on the golf course he threw it into the water feature of the course, the pond. He didn't like to be beeped!
Now there is a feature on phones that I like and dislike. It's called Life 360. Everybody that you have listed on your 360 can be traced, with their permission of course. Some of my grandchildren are riding along on this app. I can see where they are, when they were there, how fast they drive, what time they got home, if they have an accident, and how many miles they drove that particular day. My husband will not join our family app. The only way you could stop being traced would be to leave your phone behind and who in the world would do that? The only problem I have found is that if your phone battery goes dead it may look as if you were out all night or until your phone has recharged. Sometimes that gives me worry.
There are apps to help you find your lost keys or your phone, apps to tell you where you are if you are lost in an unfamiliar place, how many miles before you can buy gas or eat at an eatery, where your children are, how fast you drive, and so many other things. Growing up, of course there was none of these gadgets to assist my mama. She had her own app — A Penalty Procured. Of course this was after the fact but it worked really well as she seemed to always know where I had been before I got home, and the APP was always working.
Lemon Cookie Banana Pudding
1 package of vanilla instant pudding mix, 1 cup of cool whip, 2 cups of cold milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 bag of lemon Oreos, 3 really ripe bananas
Mix the instant pudding with 2 cups cold milk, 1 cup of cool whip and vanilla until thick and add three cut up bananas and set aside. Place half the package of lemon Oreos in a food processor and work until fine texture. Place 2/3 of the cookies into a 9x9 dish and pour over the pudding mixture. Sprinkle the remaining Oreos on top and chill.
