KOSCIUSKO, Miss. (AP) — The internationally acclaimed Szlubowska-Belsky Duo will return to the Skipworth Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, for an evening of classical music honoring Polish and Ukrainian composers—and more.
The performance, set to begin at 7 p.m., features violinist Marta Szlubowska and pianist Svetlana Belsky, two world-class musicians whose shared heritage and exceptional artistry have earned them recognition on concert stages around the globe.
General admission is $20. Tickets and more information are available at www.kfeems.org.
Szlubowska, a native of Poland, and Belsky, originally from Ukraine, first met as students at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory. Their paths later reunited to form the Szlubowska-Belsky Duo, a collaboration that celebrates their cultural roots while exploring a wide range of musical traditions—from traditional Slavic compositions to works by women composers.
Their return to Kosciusko is especially meaningful for Szlubowska, who was drawn to the town by its historical connection to Tadeusz Kościuszko, the Polish statesman and engineer for whom the city is named. The violinist also praised the Skipworth Center after hearing glowing reviews of a recent Mississippi Symphony Orchestra performance held there.
The duo’s performances have been widely praised for their technical brilliance, emotional depth, and dynamic interplay. In addition to live concerts, they share their work online through recordings, videos, and commentary, accessible via YouTube and other platforms.
Organizers encourage music lovers of all ages to attend the May 6 concert and enjoy an evening of inspiring artistry and cultural celebration.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Szlubowska-Belsky Duo back to Kosciusko," said event organizers. "Their music transcends borders and speaks to the soul—this is a performance you won't want to miss."
