Work to replace the library’s roof will be stalled for now as the Attala County Board of Supervisors take contractor bids under advisement until further notice.
In addition to opening bids for the project, architect Art Cook provided the supervisors with an update on the library’s roof and the work it will take to complete it.
While the library’s roof will be completely replaced, work will also be done to mitigate asbestos that has accumulated. The building and surrounding sidewalk may also be pressure washed, along with applying a termite treatment.
Bids for the project:
— $814,360, Independent Roofing of Jackson.
— $732,000, Norman Roofing of Meridian.
— $553,750, R&R Sheet Metal of Columbia.
The supervisors declined to accept a bid at the bid conference. Instead, the board took the bids under advisement until further notice and will revisit the matter at a future board meeting.
