Below is a press release from the Mississippi State Department of Health:
The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has lifted the state imposed boil-water notice for the City of Flowood’s surface water system. This has been done in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Revised Total Coliform Rule. MSDH officials have confirmed that appropriate disinfection is in place and that the samples taken from the distribution system are clear. These same criteria were used to lift the notice for the City of Jackson on Friday.
The MSDH would like to express its appreciation to Flowood officials for their cooperation and support of public health and safety.
Here are some recommended actions that residents and businesses can take after a boil-water notice is lifted:
Flush faucets for a total of ten (10) minutes to introduce system water throughout house plumbing.
For example:
1 faucet — run for 10 minutes
2 faucets — run both for 5 minutes
3 faucets — run each for 3-4 minutes
Flush any faucet a minimum of two (2) minutes to ensure clearing of the line serving the faucet.
