Troop D of the Mississippi Highway Patrol released its grand totals for traffic violations over the holiday weekend.
The Greenwood district issued 494 citations and made five arrests for driving under the influence. The troop also worked 15 accidents that resulted in four total injuries. Two of the accidents were alcohol related.
Statewide Mississippi Highway Patrol issued 4,661 citations with 73 DUI’s. They worked 141 accidents, five of which were alcohol related with 59 injuries with three fatalities in two fatal accidents.
The fatalities were in DeSoto County (Troop E, Batesville district) on US 78, vehicle collided with a pedestrian and in Lee County (Troop F, New Albany district) on Hwy. 371, one vehicle rollover accident, killing two.
