Kosciusko fast-pitch softball team remained undefeated on the season with a trio of victories last week.
The Lady Whippets had to rally for a 5-3 win at Morton on Monday night, but whipped visiting Winona 11-1 Tuesday night and then hammered Morton 15-0 in a rematch on Friday.
Saturday contests against Choctaw County and Caledonia were cancelled due to potential rain.
Kosy, which carried an 8-0 record into this week, was scheduled to host both Nanih Waiya and Lake in tournament action on Monday.
Next week, the Lady Whippets are scheduled to battle Noxubee County in a division game on Tuesday (March 20), host New Hope on Thursday (March 22) and go to Winona on Friday (March 23).
Last Monday at Morton, Kosciusko scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to overcome a 3-1 deficit and knock off the Lady Panthers.
Maddy Gilmore collected two hits, a run and an RBI; Abigail Myers doubled and drove in two runs;and Madeline McCown singled, scored and had an RBI to lead the Lady Whippets.
Mackenzie Ryals, AnnaLeigh Jones and Katie Mitchell all had hits, with Jones scoring once. Kelly Hood and Josie Meggs scored the team’s other runs.
Mitchell got the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with 11 strikeouts.
On Tuesday, Kosciusko scored five times each in the first and sixth innings and knocked off the Lady Tigers in a rout-shortened contest.
Jones singled, tripled, drove in two and scored a run; Gilmore had two hits and three RBIs and McCown had two hits, two runs and an RBI.
Hood had four stolen bases and three runs scored and Gabbie Kelley singled, scored and drove in a run. Brooke Mitchell scored twice, while Katie Mitchell and Campbell Blaine scored once.
Gilmore threw six innings and gave up four hits and one run to get the pitching win, striking out seven.
Friday, Kosy outhit Morton 14-1 and used an eight-run rally in the second inning to take control against the Lady Panthers.
Gilmore and Jones both had three hits, a run and an RBI and Katie Mitchell doubled, singled and drove in a run to lead the charge.
Hood tripled, singled, scored and drove in three runs; Meggs singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in two; Sara Caroline Henderson doubled and scored; Myers singled and scored twice; McCown singled, scored and drove in a run; Brooke Mitchell scored three runs; Ryals scored twice; Alexandra West scored once.
atie Mitchell earned the pitching victory, striking out seven and giving up just one hit in the five-inning shutout.
