The Kosciusko Whippet baseball team won twice over the weekend, defeating Yazoo City 17-0 and Yazoo County 7-1. In the win over Yazoo City, Jerod Meggs got the start and win for the Whippets, allowing only one hit and no runs in the four inning affair. The Whippets jumped on the Indians quickly with nine in the second and eight in the third.
The offensive leaders for the Whippets were Jeremy Deason with a single, two runs scored and two RBI; Clark Dean with a single, two runs scored and one RBI; Logan Fancher with a single, three runs scored and one RBI; Chase Morgan with two runs scored and one RBI; Meggs with a single, one run scored and one RBI; Jatavious Herron with a single and an RBI; Ethan Gowan with a single, one run scored and an RBI; Ryan Atkinson with two runs scored and Walker Yuille with two single, two runs scored and two RBI.
In the 7-1 win over Yazoo County the Whippets found themselves in an early 1-0 hole after two innings but responded with two in the third, three in the fifth and two in the sixth to put the game away.
The Whippets hosted Ridgeland on Tuesday and will host Holmes Central at 7 p.m. on Thursday before traveling to Winona on Friday to take on Choctaw County at 2 p.m. and Winona at 5 p.m. The Whippets return home on Saturday when they host West Point at 2 p.m.
