The Kosciusko Whippet baseball team moved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 4-4A action after defeating Noxubee County twice last week by scores of 15-0 in both games.
In the first game of the Noxubee series, Jerod Meggs got the start and the win by pitching two innings, allowing no hits, runs or walks while striking out all six batters he faced with just 24 pitches. Walker Yuille pitched the final inning and struck out the three hitters on just 12 pitches.
The offensive leaders for the Whippets were Jeremy Deason with a single, one run scored and one RBI; Clark Dean with a double, three runs scored and two RBI; Logan Fancher with three doubles, two runs scored and three RBI; Chase Morgan with three runs scored; Loftin Price with one run scored; Jatavious Herron with a single and two runs scored; Ryan Atkinson with a single and one run scored and Yuille with a single, two runs scored and one RBI.
In game two of the Region 4-4A series with Noxubee County Dean got the start and the win by pitching two innings, yielding no runs on one hit while walking none and striking out four. Herron pitched the final inning and gave up no runs on one hit while striking out one and walking one.

The Whippets traveled to Sykes Park in Meridian on Tuesday to take on Amite and Neshoba Central and will hit the road again on Thursday when the travel to Pearl for a 7 p.m. contest and on Friday when the travel to Newton County for a 12 p.m. contest. Staying on the road, the Whippets will play on Saturday at Lamar at 1 p.m.
