The Kosciusko Whippets and Lady Whippets each won three times last week by defeating West Lauderdale in Kosy and then Choctaw County and French Camp in the Ethel Invitational. The Whippets moved to 9-2 overall while the Lady Whippets improved to 5-4.
In last Tuesday’s game against West Lauderdale the Lady Whippets won a hard-fought contest by a score of 47-45. The leaders for the Lady Whippets were Feria Mays with 16 points, four assists and three steals and Kenyatta Allen with nine points, four steals and nine rebounds.
The Whippets squeaked by West Lauderdale in a close one as well, winning the contest 54-51. The leaders for the Whippets were Johnny Forrest with 17 points, two assists and two steals; Stefan Harmon with 14 points, two steals and eight rebounds and D.J. Sailor with 14 points and six rebounds.
In their first game of the Ethel Invitational on Friday, the Lady Whippets defeated Choctaw County 59-38. The leaders for the Lady Whippets were Mays with 20 points, three assists and 11 steals; Ameria Riley with eight points and Mahogany Perteet with eight points.
The Whippets then played Choctaw County and won a low-scoring close one over the Chargers 39-34. The leaders for the Whippets were Forrest with nine points, five assists and three boards and Terry Skinner with nine points, one board and one blocked shot.
The Lady Whippets went back to Ethel on Saturday and won their finale against the French Camp Lady Panthers 51-29. The leaders for the Lady Whippets were Mays with 17 points, six assists and five steals and Indya Haynes with 14 points, two steals and nine rebounds.
The Whippets cruised as well on Saturday following the Lady Whippet victory with a 65-33 win over the French Camp Panthers. The leaders for the Whippets were Harmon with 15 points, three steals and seven rebounds and Forrest with 13 points, five steals and five rebounds.
Both teams were on the road Tuesday night when they played the Eupora Eagles and will be back on the road next Tuesday night when the travel to Union.
