The Whippets and Lady Whippets both fell to Louisville last Friday night by scores of 81-62 and 80-42 respectively. They then traveled to the Houston Shootout on Saturday where the Whippets defeated Smithville 54-51 and the Lady Whippets fell to Houston 60-34. The Whippets moved to 10-3 overall
while the Lady Whippets fell to 3-10.
The Whippets won one and lost one over the holidays, defeating Montgomery County 63-57 on December 22, before falling to Morton 59-44 on December 28. The Lady Whippets dropped both of their contests over the holidays, first losing to Montgomery County 45-39 on December 22, and then fell to Morton 44-34 on December 28.
In the Whippet 63-57 win over Montgomery County, Calvin Banks was the offensive leader with 21 points, four assists and three steals, while Antonio Harmon scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds. The leaders for the Lady Whippets in their 45-39 loss to Montgomery County were Diamond Rayford with 11 points and three steals and Kenyatta Allen with 10 points and five boards.
The offensive leaders for the Whippets in the 59-44 loss to Morton were Banks with 11 points, four rebounds and two steals and Devonte Grove with 14 points and eight rebounds. The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets were Katie Mitchell with 11 points; Allen with 10 points and nine rebounds and Mahogany Perteet with seven points and five steals.
In last Friday night’s loss to Louisville, the offensive leaders for the Whippets were Banks with 19 points and four steals and Terry Skinner with 12 points and five assists. In the Lady Whippets’ loss to Louisville, the offensive leaders were Ameria Riley with 11 points and three steals; Allen with eight points and eight rebounds and Mitchell with six points.
In the Whippets’ 54-51 win over Smithville, the offensive leaders were Banks with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals; Micah Parker with 10 points, three steals and four rebounds; Harmon with 10 points and six rebounds and Grove with 10 points and eight rebounds. The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets in their 60-34 loss to Houston were Riley with 12 points and two steals and Allen with eight points and four rebounds.
The Whippets and Lady Whippets traveled to Choctaw County on Tuesday night and will be back on the road once again when they travel to New Hope on Friday night for a 6 p.m. tip.
