The Kosciusko (6-5) baseball team went 1-3 in play during spring break last week.
The Whippets began the week with a 6-1 win against Choctaw County on Monday. Matthew Allen swatted a team-high two hits to lead Kosciusko offense. Walker Hill and Lucas Price also recorded hits.
Allen and Will Cook provided an RBI apiece. The Whippets drew six walks in the win.
Ethan Wood threw four innings from the mound and tallied two strikeouts. He walked two and yielded three hits and one earned run. Wood received the pitching win. Tyler Vancise went three innings and recorded seven strikeouts. He only surrendered one walk.
Offense was on display in the Whippets’ second game of the day, which pitted them against Neshoba Central. The Rockets picked up a 9-8 win.
Allen, VanCise, Price and River Burrell each finished with two hits. Hill, Evan Scott, Heath McBride and Kaylan Powell chipped in with one hit apiece.
Burrell and McBride both tallied two RBIs apiece, while Price and VanCise each added one.
McBride hurled the first 6 and 2/3 innings for the Whippets. He struck out three and allowed seven earned runs. Cook handled the final half-inning.
Eupora bested Kosciusko, 3-2, in midweek afternoon action on Thursday.
VanCise accumulated two hits, while Hill, Scott, Allen and Powell contributed one apiece. VanCise and Scott notched RBIs.
Parker Ryals threw five innings behind 79 pitches. He struck out three batters and yielded two earned runs. Wood pitched for one inning. He tallied a strikeout.
Kosciusko concluded its week on Thursday afternoon with an 8-1 loss to Pearl. Powell and Allen combined for the Whippets’ two hits.
Nolen Yuille recorded two strikeouts and yielded two walks and five earned runs over 4 and 2/3 innings. VanCise pitched 1 and 1/3 innings.
