Last week resulted in a trio of wins for the Kosciusko Lady Whippets’ softball team.
Kosciusko recorded wins against Choctaw County, French Camp and Ethel to improve to 5-2 on the season.
“I thought we had a good week,” Kosciusko coach Tony Terry said. “We had a good week in all three phases. Offensively, defensively and in the circle we all competed well and played like I expect us to play.”
The Lady Whippets cruised to a 16-1 win against Choctaw County last Tuesday. Mary Kimble Price received the pitching win and needed just one inning to do so. She accumulated three strikeouts.
Gracie Williams (one strikeout), Emmagail Kelley, Kaitlyn Howell (two strikeouts) and KC Schuler (one strikeout) also went one inning in the circle.
The Lady Whippets recorded 10 hits.
Campbell Blaine and Alexandra West posted doubles, and Schuler ended with two singles. Kelley, Kelly Hood, Laken Milner, Lizzie Kate Jones and Emma Rush scratched out singles. Hood posted three runs, and Blaine and West each finished with two runs.
Price against pitched the Lady Whippets to victory against French Camp last Saturday as Kosciusko grabbed a 9-0 win in tournament action at Ethel High School.
Price went four innings and struck out five and allowed one hit. Howell tossed three innings of three-hit, three-strike out softball.
Josie Meggs recorded a double to go with a single. Hood swatted two doubles. Schuler provided a double and two singles. Jones posted three singles, and Milner tallied a double and a single. Hood and Meggs each scored three runs.
Kelley’s arm helped lift the Lady Whippets to a 14-1 win against Ethel in Kosciusko’s two-game Ethel tournament action on Saturday.
Kelley went four innings, striking out five and allowing four hits. Hood finished with a home run and a double. Milner added two singles. Meggs legged out a double.
The Lady Whippets were set to play Enterprise and Nanih Waiya on Monday.
