Over Spring Break the Ethel baseball team went down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and participated in the Battle at the Beach. The Tigers went 3-1 in the event beating Corinth, New Albany and Resurrection, while losing to Washington School.
The Tigers are 11-1 on the season and will now have to wait and see when the 2020 season will resume.
Ethel scored six runs in the top of the first to take control of the game early in an 8-8 win over Corinth.
Tanner Reeves had two hits with three RBIs to lead the Tigers over the Warriors, while Reeves Threadgill and Alex Schuster each added hits for EHS. Cyrus Rone got the win on the mound, striking out seven while allowing just one hit and not issuing a walk.
Rone had two hits along with two RBIs to lead the Tigers to a 6-4 win over the Bulldogs of New Albany. Schuster ripped a triple and single and scored twice for Ethel, while Beall got the win on the mound and Threadgill earned the save.
Washington School scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take an 8-7 win over Ethel, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season, 8-7.
Reeves had two hits with two RBIs, while Schuster and Threadgill also had two hits. Rone added a single, while Threadgill and Schuster scored two runs each.
The Tigers bounced back to end the week with an 11-3 win over Resurrection Catholic behind a six-run, sixth inning. John Braxton McBride would have a hit with three RBIs and was the winning pitcher to lead the Tigers got past the Eagles. He struck out four batters in three innings of work, while Threadgill fanned six in his three innings on the mound.
Kameron McCuller, Reeves, and Schuster had two hits each for Ethel, while Beall doubled and Graves singled. Reeves scored three times for the Tigers, while Beall and McBride each crossed the plate twice.
