Although the season did not go quite as expected for the Kosciusko Whippet football team, there were quite a few players that had really productive seasons. Junior running back Kadarius Banks, named the All-Central Mississippi Football Awards Offensive MVP, rushed for 1002 yards on the year and was a dependable runner that the Whippets leaned on for tough yards. “For his size, he runs like a 200-pound guy,” said Kosciusko interim head coach Sid Wheatley. “He’s tough and hard-nosed and fights for every yard he gets.”
Senior do-all back Stefan Harmon was also a threat every time he was around the football. “He made a lot of plays for us and earned first-team All-Region 4-4A as an athlete,” said Wheatley. “He’s a game-changer and anytime he gets the ball in his hands he’s dangerous and it’s a potential touchdown. He is a ball hawk on defense and was a good run stopper.”
Other players that stood out for the Whippets in 2016 were senior tight end Lane Outlaw; junior linebacker Clint Williams; junior linebacker Devin Foster; senior defensive back Jatavious Herron; junior defensive back Jaquan Williams; senior defensive end/tight end Ashton Greer; junior defensive end Tanner Threadgill; senior center Manly Peterson; sophomore offensive lineman Nick Mallett; junior defensive tackles Kahare Haynes and Chris Robinson and junior quarterback Clark Dean.
