The Kosciusko baseball team swept a pair of division games from Noxubee County to even its record on the season.
After falling to Pearl 8-1 last Monday, the Whippets rebounded to win a pair of contests by identical 13-0 scores against Noxubee on Tuesday.
Those wins gave Kosy a record of 7-7 overall entering this week, when the Whippets were to host Louisville on Tuesday. They are scheduled to return to Louisville Friday for another division tilt, then host Pelahatchie and Newton County on Saturday.
Next week, Kosciusko has five games on tap: Tuesday (April 10) at New Hope; Thursday (April 12) at West Point; Friday (April 13) at home against New Hope; Saturday (April 14) against both Morton and Northeast Lauderdale at Morton.
Last Monday, the Whippets fell 8-1 to Pearl when the Pirates scored seven times in the third inning.
Justin Nunn had a couple of hits to lead Kosy, while Logan Fancher singled and scored.
Micah Parker and Walker Yuille also singled and Jon Deason added an RBI.
Kosciusko rebounded in a big way the next day by sweeping Noxubee. In the opener, the Whippets scored five times in the first inning, twice each in the second and third and four times in the fourth.
Nolen Yuille threw four innings, allowed one hit and no walks and struck out seven to get the win on the mound.
Ethan Gowan homered, scored twice and drove in three runs and Chase Morgan singled, tripled, scored and also drove in three runs to lead Kosciusko.
Nunn singled, scored twice and had an RBI; Deason singled and scored; Parker scored twice and also had an RBI; Brandon Black scored two runs; Walker Yuille drove in two runs; Logan Fancher scored and had an RBI; Clark Dean and River Burrell both scored once.
In the second game, Kosciusko scored six times in the first inning and seven more in the second.
Morgan and Deason combined on a three-inning, no-hitter, striking out six.
Kosciusko had just three hits of its own, but took advantage of 11 walks and a couple of Noxubee errors.
Gowan was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs and Deason doubled, scored and drove in a pair.
Fancher, Dean and Burrell all scored two runs apiece; Morgan scored and had an RBI; Matthew Allen had an RBI; Parker, Will Cook and Eldarius Roby all scored once.
