Another week resulted in another trio of wins for the surging Lady Whippets. It also improved them to 18-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 4-4A games.
Kosciusko swept the week with wins of 16-0 and 10-0 over New Hope and a 3-2 victory against Choctaw Central.
"We got two big division wins over New Hope," Kosciusko coach Tony Terry said. "Hit it and pitched it well in both games."
Once again, the duo of Katie Mitchell and Maddie Gilmore provided to be too much to overcome for Kosciusko opponents. Gilmore went 2-0 on the week, while Mitchell was 1-0 with a save.
Seven Lady Whippet players recorded hits in the 16-1 win against New Hope last Tuesday.
Jose Meggs swatted a home run, AnnaLeigh Jones and Campbell Blaine belted triples and Kelly Hood, Mitchell and KC Schuler contributed doubles. Hood also added two singles.
Brooke Mitchell scored a team-high three runs, while Katie Mitchell, Emmagail Kelley, Blaine and Meggs added two apiece.
Gilmore went four innings where she fanned seven batters and allowed two hits to pick up the win from the circle.
Katie Mitchell took to the circle on Thursday for Kosciusko's second game of the week against New Hope, and she needed just five innings to secure the win.
Mitchell surrendered just three hits and struck out eight as the Lady Whippets secured a 10-0 Region 4-4A victory.
Laken Milner launched a home run, Gilmore and Hood added two doubles, and Brooke Mitchell and Jones each ripped two singles.
Brooke Mitchell and Hood tallied two runs apiece.
Jones' two-RBI singles provided Kosciusko the offense it needed to nab a 3-2 road win against Choctaw Central on Friday.
Hood, Gilmore and Milner doubled, while Hood also added a single to go with two runs.
Gilmore went six innings. She surrendered four hits and fanned three, while Mitchell pitched one inning of relief, where she walked one, yielded one hit and struck out one.
"Choctaw Central played a great game," Terry said. "We pitched it well and defended well. We got two big two-out hits to get our runs."
Kosciusko hosts Winona on Monday and is scheduled for a doubleheader with Noxubee County on Tuesday. Lewisburg visits Kosciusko on Friday before the Lady Whippets hosts another doubleheader against Senatobia.
