Kosciusko ended the tennis season ranked No. 2 in Region 4-4A, falling just one match shy of besting region champion New Hope. The Whippets carried that momentum in the state tournament but were eventually defeated by New Albany.
Individually, Kosciusko's girls (Madison Autrey and Lakelynn Fancher) doubles and mixed doubles (Karla Nash and Javonte Ragsdale) teams won region titles, and the boys' doubles (Ben Brunt and Kody Causey) team finished second. The three teams advanced to the state championships.
Of the six players the Whippets sent to the state championships, four were seniors.
"It made me happy to be able to send a couple of seniors to state their senior year," Kosciusko coach Lauren Peresich. "This is my first year as the head coach, so I'm just getting my bearings and it's a lot easier when you have a lot of good athletes to succeed with. We had an older team this year, so next year will definitely be a rebuilding season for us. But being a brand-new coach to this sport, and this is the first team I've ever been a head coach for, it was kind of easier on me because I had tremendous athletes who pushed themselves."
Kosciusko's tennis team was celebrated at the year-end athletics banquet.
Causey was named the boys' most valuable player, and Fancher received the honor of being named the girls' most valuable player. Arissa Olive was named girls' rookie of the year, while Ellis Armond was selected boys' rookie of the year. Parker Jones received Kosciusko's leadership award.
