Host Kosciusko turned in a number of solid performances in last week’s Division 4-4A Track and Field Meet, held Thursday.
The top four finishers in each event qualified for this week’s Region 2-4A Meet, and Kosciusko qualified in a total of 42 events.
On the girls’ side, 27 Lady Whippets will be moving on including three who garnered individual division championships last week.
The girls’ 4x800 meter relay team was first in a time of 12 minutes, 25 seconds, while freshman Tyneria Cross was first in the girls’ high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Senior Samia Veasy was first in the girls’ pole vault at 6 feet, while senior Kenyatta Allen was first in the girls’ shot put with a throw of 32 feet.
On the boys’ side, Kosciusko had region qualifiers in 15 total events.
First-place finishes for the boys included sophomore Devonte Ellis, who was first in the 100m dash with a time of 11.2 seconds.
Junior Terry Skinner was first in the boys’ long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3.5 inches; while freshman Calvin Banks was first in the boys’ triple jump with a total of 41 feet, 1 inch.
