The Lady Whippets earned their fifth win of the year last Tuesday with their 44-38 win over Greenwood. The win was also Kosciusko’s second this season over the Lady Bulldogs, as the Lady Whippets defeated them 53-44 on Nov. 10 in the Kosciusko Shootout.
Senior Katie Mitchell earned Kosciusko Player of the Game honors for her efforts in last Tuesday’s win.
Mitchell shot 50 percent of the field to finish with 12 points. She went 3-for-5 in 3-point attempts and was 3-for-3 from the foul line. Mitchell collected two defensive rebounds and forced four turnovers.
Freshman Amiyah Greer went 5-for-8 from the field and tallied 12 points. Greer also was 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. Greer snagged seven rebounds, tallied one assist and had three steals.
Mikhayla Vaughn collected seven rebounds, dished three assists and forced one turnover.
Kosciusko travels to Leake County this Friday for its final November contest.
BOYS
The Whippets avenged their one-point, Nov. 10 loss to Greenwood with a 59-49 win against the Bulldogs last Tuesday. At 6-1 this season, Kosciusko is currently on a four-game winning streak.
Four players finished with double-digit scoring outputs for the Whippets.
Calvin Banks tallied a team-high 15 points, Antonia Harmon and O’Corya Forrest each chipped in with 13 points and JaQuan Hall ended with 10 points.
Forrest’s three 3-pointers paced the Whippets in shooting from behind the arc, and Banks went 7-for-10 from the foul line.
Kosciusko forced 14 turnovers. Banks was credited with five steals, Sam Rigby forced three steals, and Terry Skinner and Forrest tallied two steals apiece.
Banks and Hall also collected seven rebounds each.
