The sum total of the Kosciusko Cardinals Youth Football teams three games on Saturday was 97-0.
Rowdy Rone scored two early touchdowns for the 6- to 8-year-old team, and two conversions by Thad Coach and Elijah Kilbert, respectively, had the Cards up 14-0 in a hurry. Kilbert scored twice more, followed by two more successful conversions, before Rone ran in his third TD, which brought the score to 34-0.
Kilbert was not done. His third TD, which came with just under two minutes remaining and a point-after made it 41-0, and the drubbing of the visiting Holmes County Raiders was mercifully over.
The shutout remained in tact through game two of the day, when the 9- and 10-year-olds won 14-0. Galvin Howard and Tyreion Riley accounted for Kosy’s two touchdowns.
The punishing running of Jarmarion Thompson was the story of the 11- and 12-year-old team. Thompson scored four touchdowns, three on the ground and one on a pass from Adam Reed.
Adam Greer threw the squad’s second TD pass of the day when he connected with Keith Lay. Ceavon Toliver scored the games first touchdown on the ground. He also kicked point-after attempts well. The final score was 42-0.
The Cardinals next game is Saturday, when they host the Starkville Saints.
