Kosciusko High School standout Kelly Hood has been chosen to take part in the Cornerstone Rehabilitation All-Star Fast Pitch Softball games, while are put on by the Mississippi Association of Coaches. The games are currently set to take place Friday, May 29, at Jones College in Ellisville, with things subject to change due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Hood, who plays second base for the Lady Whippets, was chosen to be a member of the Class 4A/5A/6A North team.
This year the All-Star Games will have a three-game set starting with the Rising Stars (sophomores only) on May 29 at 4 p.m., immediately followed by the 1A/2A/3A game. The 4A/5A/6A game is set for 8:30 p.m.
They will play games on Saturday, May 30, as well with the Rising Stars at 10 a.m. and the 1A/2A/3A following at Noon. The 4A/5A/6A contest will close out the weekend activities at 2 p.m.
Coaching the 4A/5A/6A North team will be Taylor Holland and Caroline Bond of Cleveland Central. Among those joining Hood on the North team will be Anna Leigh Jones and Elleigh Willis of Neshoba Central, Gabbie Dickerson and Natalies Gilmore of Lewisburg, and Haven Dulin and Tyler Hamby of South Panola.
Jones played for Kosciusko last year. She is the daughter of Jonathan Jones, who coached baseball at Kosy before taking the coaching job at Neshoba Central at the conclusion of the 2018-19 School year.
