The Kosciusko girls soccer team broke back into the win column with a 6-0 shutout of Louisville on Tuesday. The win was the Lady Whippets’ first in Region 3-4A play this year, and it improved the team to 2-9 on the season.
Four Kosciusko players tallied goals. Mary Patton Henderson posted a hat trick with three goals. Annaleigh Bain, Raven Pernell and Anna Caroline Pickle added a goal apiece.
Mackenzie Alford, Henderson, Anna Catherine Cheek and Alexandra West tallied assists.
“It was a good win for our girls,” Kosciusko coach Greg Cooper said. “We have been working hard for the past (few) months and getting a win reminds us that our hard work has rewards. We now enter the Christmas break, and we will be able to heal all those who are injured, and continue to work on our team formation.”
Kosciusko returns to play on Jan. 5 with a road trip to Pontotoc.
BOYS
The Lady Whippets weren’t the only team to earn a resounding win this week.

Russell provided two assists, and Pope and Jon Gant finished with one assists apiece.
“The boys had a quality win this Tuesday,” Cooper said. “Good ball movement and pressure. A good win to go into the Christmas break. We are looking forward to this great break and working on our fundamentals and formations.”
