The Kosciusko Junior High School boys and girls teams combined for 16 gold medals during the North Central Mississippi East Division Championship meet held at Winona High School on Monday.
The top four finishers in each event qualify for the region championship which will be held in Winona on Tuesday.
Competing with Kosciusko in the East Division meet are Grenada, Neshoba Central, and Noxubee County.
The Kosy girls finished with 123 points, followed by Grenada with 74 Noxubee with 32 and Neshoba with 13.
The Kosy boys totaled 77 points to get past second-place Noxubee's 66 points. Grenada had 53 and Neshoba Central 31.
Raven Pernell had a huge meet for the Lady Whippets, taking home four individual gold medals. She took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.70, fist in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:09.93, first in the 200 meters at 28.61, and first in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet and three quarters inches.
Reid Hutchinson claimed gold meals in the girls triple jump with a distance of 26 feet, 8 and three-quarters inches and the 800 meter run with a time of 2:52.00.
Mayson Kyzer won the girls 3200 meter run in 15:52, followed closely by teammate Emma Rhodes at 15:53.
Other gold medal winners for Kosy were as follows: Dan Linsay in the boys 3200 meter run with a time of 11:28; the boys 4x100 meter really team of Damarrius Carr, Jamarion Thompson, Keldrick Winters and Tarrance Wilkins with a time of 50.76; Victoria Anderson in the girls 200 hurdles with a time of 57.34; the boys 4x400 really team of Steven Nicholos, Willie Perteet, Lemuel Whitcomb and Demond Reed with a clocking of 4:33; Ceavon Toliver with a distance of 15 feet, 9 and three-quarter inches in the boys long jump, Kadie Van in the girls discus with a toss of 67 feet, 9 inches, Lee Wade in the boys triple jump with a distance of distance of 33 feet, six inches; Presley Fulgham in the girls pole vault with a height of 7 feet and William Chrestman in the boys pole vault with a height of 6 feet.
