The Kosciusko Junior High Girls amassed 161 points to win the North Central Mississippi Conference track meet held on April 2 in Winona.
KJH earned the only 24 points awarded in the girls’ pole vault to finish 27 points ahead of second place Charleston.
Choctaw County High School won the boys event, with 104.5 points, while KJH finished fourth with 88.5 points.
Raven Pernell had a big points day for KJH, winning the girls’ long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 3 inches and taking second in both the 400 meter and 200 meter dashes.
Reid Hutchinson won the 800 meters with a time of 2:48 beating the second place finisher by nine seconds, while Kadie Van was first in the girls discus with a distance of 77 feet, 7 and a half inches, more than 10 inches farther than her nearest competitor. Bree Smith of KJH took the bronze medal in the event.
Presley Fulgham won the girls pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches, while KJH teammates Haley Olive and Karianne Amis finished second and third respectively.
Emma Rhodes was third in the 3200 meter run and Victoria Anderson took bronze in the 300 meter hurdles.
Lee Wade won the gold medal in the boys triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 6 inches, while the boys 4x800 relay team of Triston Malone, Braylon Truss, Donteavious Manning and Steven Nicholas took gold with a time of 10:32.
LaFredrick Wright was third in the shot put with a distance of 36 feet, 6 inches.
