The NJCAA has announced the 2019-20 Academic Teams of the Year. Despite an academic year that was interrupted due to COVID-19, NJCAA student-athletes flourished in the classroom as 1,026 teams earned at least a 3.0 GPA or better.
Four Holmes CC athletic teams --- softball, women's soccer, baseball and women's basketball --- were listed among the NJCAA's best academic teams in their sport.
Softball was the nation's fifth best in GPA with a 3.67 GPA and second in the MACJC. Women's soccer was the nation's third best in GPA with a 3.64 GPA and second in the MACJC while baseball finished with a 3.28 GPA and women's basketball finished with a 3.14 GPA.
Individual NJCAA Academic Awards (first team, 4.0 GPA; second team, 3.8-3.99 GPA; and third team, 3.6-3.79 GPA) for 2019-20 include: First Team – Cade Pinnix, baseball; Jordyn Manning, women's basketball; Aaron Lincoln, men's soccer; Anna King, Caseigh Hickman, Hannah Dowty, Ja'Laycia Smith, Laney Smith, Laniee Chandler, Peyton Montgomery, Ravynne Wilson, Reagan Savell and Zoe Ellis, women's soccer; Katie Dana, Kaleigh Cosgrove, Kylie Richardson, Madeline McCown, Shelby Lindsay and Summer Jordan, softball; Second Team -- Dalton Massingill, Bailey Rademacher, Dalton Luke and Kenneth Moore, baseball; Tniniyah Jones, women's basketball; Dyrell Lyles and Edwin Herard, football; Carly Williams, Kya Davis, Alysia Terry and Bailey Thompson, women's soccer; and Kailey Chachere, Malita Chaffier, softball; Third Team – Jaylen Armstrong, Cole Drake and Payton Rehm, baseball; Ceilidh Dalton, Abby Welborn, Madilyn Manor, softball; Emily Evans, women's tennis; Darrell Grantham, Michael Gonzalez, Kyle Kirtley and Michael Jacobs, men's soccer; Cameron Gladney, women's soccer; and Tyler Mosley, men's tennis.
