The U.S. Small Business Administration will host an online workshop Wednesday to help Mississippi homeowners, renters and business owners learn about disaster recovery assistance following severe storms that struck the state in March.
The "Business & Community Workshop" is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST and will focus on SBA low-interest disaster loans available to those affected by the March storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding.
The virtual event, conducted via Zoom, targets residents and businesses in Attala County and other impacted areas across Mississippi. Participants can join the workshop by clicking a registration link provided by the SBA.
"We invite homeowners, renters, and business owners to join us for an informational workshop on how the SBA can help you recover from March's severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding," the SBA announced in promotional materials for the event.
The workshop comes as Mississippi continues recovery efforts from the severe weather events that caused significant damage across multiple counties in March. SBA disaster loans typically offer low-interest financing to help individuals and businesses repair or replace damaged property and equipment.
The SBA has been working to assist communities affected by the spring storms, which brought damaging winds, tornadoes and flooding to parts of central Mississippi. The agency's disaster loan program provides financial assistance to help communities rebuild following federally declared disasters.
Interested participants can register for the free workshop through the SBA's online portal. The session will provide information about loan applications, eligibility requirements and the assistance process for disaster recovery funding.
