Tupelo/Kosciusko — Roy L. McMillan, 85, departed this life from Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
He was born at home in Attala County, Mississippi on October 24, 1937, to Horace and Mary Loraine Ryan McMillan.
Roy attended High School in Kosciusko and earned his degree in Engineering from Mississippi State University. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army where he proudly served in the intelligence division. During his service he learned to sail on the Black Sea and sailing became a lifelong passion.
He was a world traveler and visited or worked in over 80 countries throughout his lifetime. After he retired from Victoria's Secret he moved to Orange Beach, AL where he and Carolyn lived for 22 years. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed exploring the trails around the area. Recently he returned to his home state of Mississippi.
A Celebration of Life service will be planned by the family at a later date. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn Hill McMillan of Okolona; Daughters, Mary Cooper McMillan-Browne (Dermot) of Lake Worth, FL, and Sallie Ryan Baldock (Phil) of Roswell, GA; three Grandchildren, Lucy Caroline, Gracie Cooper, and Julian Christopher Baldock; Sister, Dr. Joan "Snookie" Weatherly (Jim); Brothers, Steven "Butch" McMillan (Theresa), and Horace "Sunny" McMillan (Marilyn); Sister In-Law, Rita Hill Robinson (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; Sister, Frances "Tip" Rosamond; and Brother In-Laws, Bill Robinson, Jim Weatherly, Joe Hill and Delmos Rosamond.
