Losing someone

Skills that help save on bills

My dad quit school in the fifth grade and went to work. Of course, it was the early 1930s around the time of the Great Depression, so his story was not unique. But like most boys his age, he learned early in life how to work with his hands. These skills served him all of his life.

'Chicken Man'

Jilda and I have kept chickens for years. All we have to do is toss out a few scoops of scratch feed, keep their water fresh and in return we have an aerated yard and a fridge full of fresh eggs. When the price of eggs skyrocketed, we smiled all the way to the henhouse. An added benefit of keeping chickens is pest control.
