Each year during the holidays I find myself seeking solitude in the old barn on the back of our property. It is away from jangling phones and the tether of Internet connectivity. The hayloft is quiet, and through the years I have found that it is a good vantage point for viewing the past year.

Family Christmas traditions are treasures beyond measure. Some of my fondest memories are of Christmas. The aroma of hot chocolate steeping on the stove and pecan pies baking in my mama’s oven on cold December mornings told me that it was finally Christmas time.
